![]() ![]() ![]() Second Story is 16-bit in nature but 32-bit in execution and is a conservative step forward in RPG gaming, coming across like a combination of Grandia and Saga Frontier. If only all the relevant files weren't automatically deleted and it was more clear how to adjust the advertised options, then this would be Five stars. Marking Enix's first major RPG undertaking in the next-generation wars, Star Ocean: Second Story is a decidedly conservative attempt to refine rather than reinvent, and it shows. A lot of work clearly went into this, and the drag-and-drop nature of the patching makes this very user friendly. Overall, I'd recommend this patch for those who'd like to experience Baroque in its original language. Same with the actual patch information itself, in case you'd like to recreate a different copy in the future but lost the undub-patched file. It's strongly recommended to make or keep an additional copy of the original source image, there's no way to get it back without re-ripping or re-downloading once it's been patched. Further, while not advertised, it'd be nice to have an option to both keep the vanilla HUD but remove the omnipresent noise, too. However, there was no option to no remove the HUD or to remove both the HUD and noise. The patch does mostly what it claims - converts (and deletes) a vanilla Baroque image into an undubbed copy with the HUD removed then proceeds to self-delete.
